Senior Advisor to President Trump Jared Kushner chastised those accusing his father-in-law of colluding with Russia at a brief press conference Monday afternoon outside the White House.

"Donald Trump had a better message and ran a smarter campaign, and that is why he won," Kushner told reporters. "Suggesting otherwise ridicules those who voted for him."

Kushner addressed his role in the Trump campaign amid scrutiny of his contacts with Russian officials. He turned over documents to the Senate Intelligence Committee and appeared privately before the committee earlier Monday. Kushner will take questions from committee members on Tuesday.

The president's son-in-law doubled down on his statement that he himself "had no improper contacts" with Russia during campaign season.

"I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so."

"I believe in him and his ability to improve the lives of all Americans," Kushner said of Trump.
