Conway: 'Ironic' That Comey May Have Mishandled Classified Info Like Hillary Did
Kellyanne Conway appeared on "Fox & Friends" this morning to react to the "stunning" report that former FBI Director James Comey's memos about his meetings with President Trump contained classified information.
The Hill reported that Comey wrote a total of seven memos describing his talks with Trump on the Russia probe earlier this year, four of which had markings indicating they contained classified material at the “secret” or “confidential” level.
Trump took to Twitter Monday morning to declare it was "so illegal" for Comey to leak that classified information to the media.
James Comey leaked CLASSIFIED INFORMATION to the media. That is so illegal!

Conway explained that Comey claimed his memos were personal, but if they contain classified information, then he could be in trouble for mishandling classified government material.
"The irony to me ... is that this is exactly the problem that Hillary Clinton had with her illegal server, the handling of classified and confidential information that Jim Comey was meant to investigate if not prosecute," Conway said.
She pointed out that Comey admitted in congressional testimony that he had used an old friend at Columbia University to get his memos leaked to The New York Times, with the intention of triggering the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russian meddling in the campaign and possible collusion with Trump associates.
"This is just an incredible bombshell today," Conway said. "He's admitting why he did this, what his intent was. And you couple that with the fact that this was confidential information - classified information, in fact - I think this is the story that should get legs, not all this nonsense about Russian collusion."
"You have an FBI director yet again going rogue," she added. "It was like the year of Jim Comey going rogue."
