Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and other lawmakers met with Ivanka Trump on Tuesday to discuss paid family leave, child care tax credits and other issues related to working families.

The internet, however, couldn't get over a photo of an apparently awkward hug between Rubio and the first daughter.

Instead of getting mad or ignoring the photo after it blew up on Twitter, Rubio decided to have some fun with his critics.

Ivanka also took to Twitter to laugh off the incident.

On "Fox & Friends" this morning, Rubio joked that it's important that the people of Florida know that their senator is capable of a successful greeting.

"Based on my own recollection and the review of photographic evidence, it's clear that there was actually not a hug," Rubio said. "It was more of a traditional greeting that I've executed thousands of times. In fact, I'm board certified in it."

He added that the most important thing is that it was a productive, positive meeting.
