Ryan on Scalise Shooting: 'Attack on One of Us Is an Attack on All of Us'
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said all lawmakers are horrified by the attack on a congressional baseball practice in which Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) was shot in the hip.
"An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us," he said.
Reports on the suspected gunman indicate that he harbored strong anti-Republican views and supported Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign.
Ryan noted that at the Democrats' baseball practice, members came together and prayed after seeing reports of the shooting.

"At times our emotions can clearly get the best of us. We're all imperfect, but we do not shed our humanity when we we enter this chamber. For all the noise and all the fury, we are one family," said Ryan.
His remarks were followed by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who called the statement "beautiful" and expressed the same message of unity.
The annual baseball game is played each year pitting Republicans against Democrats. It's scheduled to be played tomorrow night at Nationals Park.
Sen. Sanders condemned the shooting in the "strongest possible terms," noting reports that the shooter once volunteered on his campaign.
