Former federal agent Dan Bongino said a new report from sources in the Trump administration is the latest in the press' mission to "take down the president."

"The Washington Post" reported that top adviser Jared Kushner tried to set up "back-channel" communications with Russian officials.

Bongino, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in the Maryland panhandle, said he similarly bought a burner phone to create a "back-channel" with his campaign manager.

"Is that a federal crime?" he asked incredulously. "This is really disturbing."

Bongino said left-leaning media outlets like the Post and the "New York Times" are engaged in an "evidence-free investigation that is simply determined to take down the president."

He said White House leaks must stop and that the entire Trump-Russia probe will be a "stain on the nation."
