During a question-and-answer session at a town hall, a Democratic congressman responded to a child's question by labeling President Trump as more dangerous than a terrorist.

Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) was taking written questions from the audience when a girl named Eden asked about the president, the East Bay Times reported.

Eden, 11, said her mother cried on election night and added that discussions at school made her concerned that her friends might be deported.

"The most dangerous person in America isn't a terrorist, it's the person who's president of the United States," DeSaulnier said, telling Eden to read more and get "engaged" in politics.

DeSaulnier continued, adding that the Greek root of the word "idiot" was meant to criticize someone with the power to vote who failed to do so.

"The Greeks are sending us a message," DeSaulnier said.

The room in Lafayette, Calif. erupted in loud applause as DeSaulnier, 65, finished his answer.
