Earlier this week, we told you about the battle between Ellen DeGeneres and a chicken nugget-loving teen for the #1 tweet of all time.

Last week, 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson tweeted at Wendy's, asking the fast-food chain how many retweets it would take for a free year of nuggets.

After Wendy's responded with 18 million, his tweet went mega-viral!

Many then noted that the tweet might surpass Ellen's famous selfie with Bradley Cooper, which was taken and tweeted while she hosted the 2014 Oscars.

On her show Thursday, Ellen sought to fend off the challenge to her social media crown.

DeGeneres welcomed Cooper to the show for a hilarious PSA in which they urged viewers to go to Ellen's Twitter page and re-tweet the message.

It appears to have worked, as her tweet is now at 3.3 million to 2.85 million re-tweets for Wilkerson.

"Not today, nugget boy," she jokingly tweeted at Wilkerson.

"We need your help," Cooper and DeGeneres told viewers, adding that it took a lot of effort to take that selfie.

"I was sitting on Meryl Streep's lap for an uncomfortably long time," she said.
