MSNBC Guest Suggests Susan Rice Is Being Attacked Because She's a Black Woman
The hosts of "Outnumbered" slammed Mother Jones' Washington Bureau Chief David Corn for saying Susan Rice is being attacked because she is a black woman.
The panel took issue with Corn, who was discussing Rice ordering the unmasking of Trump associates caught in wiretaps, when he used Rice's identity to protect her from Republican criticism.
"They're defaming her without any reason to do so," Corn said to Chris Matthews. "Because she's a woman, because she's a black woman, maybe because they didn't like her during 'Benghazi'."
"Notice it's always a female." Matthews said.
Meghan McCain said she's infuriated by people like Corn and Matthews qualifying or excusing criticism of someone because they are a female.
"You can't get to the truth because she's black and she's a woman?" Harris Faulkner asked.
Eboni Williams called Corn's comments "black-woman-illusion crap" and said such statements undermine black women's standing in society.
"What exactly is it that you're implying?" she asked of Corn, adding that his characterization makes such women seem less credible and accountable than others.
McCain said Rice's gender and race have nothing to do with whether she committed ethical or legal violations.
