Former KGB agent Jack Barsky said that all the allegations and speculation about the Trump campaign's ties to Russia benefit one person the most: Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He explained that the whirlwind of hacks, leaked intelligence and wiretapping allegations mean that Republicans and Democrats are at each others' throats, instead of focusing on our global adversaries, like Putin.

"We're taking intelligence out of the intelligence realm and we're playing political football," Barsky said.

He said that Putin is likely sitting in Moscow "rubbing his hands," because the U.S. democracy has been destabilized.

"We're playing into his hands," Barsky said.

"This is us - Democrats and Republicans - against them. We are not playing doubles in tennis. We are playing singles. And Putin is on the other side. He is the enemy."
