Bill O'Reilly offered a tribute to Fox News Channel host Alan Colmes, who passed away Thursday morning at age 66 after battling an illness.

"He was unique to say the least," O'Reilly said of the affable and jovial liberal commentator.

"The thing about Colmes is he had no malice, he's a kind guy," he said, adding that Colmes never took their political debates personally.

The two often traded friendly comments in the hallways, and Colmes "always had a witty comeback," O'Reilly said.

He called Colmes a "person that cared about other people."

"If you ever needed a favor, no better person than Alan Colmes."

"He'll be deeply missed here at the Fox News Channel," he said.
