A top Los Angeles Democrat said President Trump is leading himself toward a political position where talk of impeachment may arise.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who joined Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) in boycotting Trump's inauguration, said Monday that she has not called for impeachment but that the president is doing so himself.

"I think he is leading himself into that kind of position where folks will begin to ask 'what are we going to do'," she said.

Last month, Waters told MSNBC that investigations should commence to discover whether he committed impeachable offenses during the campaign.

Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy criticized Waters and other Democrats who have taken a hard line against Trump and have tried to say their opposition is pertaining to policy.

"It's not," she said, calling such opposition a "big giant venting session" in response to their candidate, Hillary Clinton, losing the 2016 election.

Liberal protesters who similarly object to Trump's legitimacy are playing with fire, she said.
