In his opening monologue tonight, Sean Hannity weighed in on the "fierce battle" that is brewing on Capitol Hill over President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee.

Hannity said that it didn't take long for leading Democrats - such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer - to break out their "hateful, divisive playbook" and attack Judge Neil Gorsuch.

He noted that some in the mainstream media have also jumped in, with The New York Times editorial board publishing an op-ed titled "Neil Gorsuch, the Nominee for a Stolen Seat."

"It's really pathetic, and it shows you just how low the opposition - alt-radical left media - is willing to go," Hannity said.

He praised President Trump for making it clear that he's not going to "play games" with the Democrats.

He pointed out that Trump on Wednesday said that he supports Senate Republicans using the "nuclear option" - which would end the need for Gorsuch to receive 60 votes to break a filibuster - if it comes down to it.

"President Trump and Republicans, they are taking the right approach here, but they better be ready for an all-out brawl," Hannity said. "Because Democrats, predictably, will launch a vicious onslaught of attacks."

"Democrats, they are the party of smear, slander, character assassination, besmirchment."
