Flying 'High': 30 Pounds of Cocaine Found Stuffed Inside Airplane's Nose
A massive amount of cocaine was literally hiding right under the pilot's "nose."
Sheriff's deputies in Tulsa, Okla., found 30 pounds of cocaine stuffed inside the nose of an American Airlines plane that departed Bogota, Colombia.
The drugs were said to be worth upwards of $434,000.
Originally destined for Miami, the plane was rerouted to Tulsa Airport for a maintenance check.
According to Tulsa County police, a mechanic noticed the insulation around the nose appeared to be new. When he peeled it back, he found a brick of cocaine.
Six more bricks, all covered in wheel grease to mask the scent, were discovered later on.
Police said they suspect a cartel was involved in the cocaine's transportation.
