CAIR Planning Lawsuit Against Trump Over Immigration Ban
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is planning to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the president's new executive ban on Muslim refugees from terrorist-harboring nations.
CAIR held an emergency rally this week, but released no specifics of the lawsuit, other than to say the New York Republican's move is unconstitutional, Abby Huntsman reported.
The group's national litigation director told The Independent that there are more than 20 million Muslims supporting the lawsuit and that CAIR began planning litigation immediately following Trump's signature.
Lena Masri said American Muslims have been "targets of discriminatory behavior" for a long time.
"This is an order based on bigotry and not reality," a CAIR statement obtained by the paper read.
The suit will reportedly be filed Monday in the Western District of Virginia.
