At least seven protesters climbed a massive construction crane in Washington, D.C., just a few blocks from the White House.

Police said the protest began around 8 a.m. ET Wednesday and protesters refused to let construction workers do their jobs. The crane is located on the site of the former Washington Post building.

Greenpeace has taken responsibility for the protest as a way to alert President Donald Trump of their resistance to his stances on the Dakota Access Pipeline and climate change.

The group deployed a 70-by-35-foot banner with the word "Resist" on it.
