House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) just announced that he has invited President Donald Trump to address a joint session of Congress on February 28.

Ryan described it as "an opportunity for the people and their representatives to hear directly from our new president about his vision and our shared agenda."

He said lawmakers have an "ambitious agenda" and that he wants Congress to be "bold" about finding solutions.

"For too long, Washington has been too timid about addressing the big challenges facing our country," said Ryan.

Trump accepted the invitation later Tuesday morning.
