UPDATE:

At a news conference Tuesday, Gov. Dayton revealed that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

He said his outlook is good and he expects to know more next week after additional medical tests.


Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton collapsed Monday night while giving his State of the State address.

Speaking at the Joint Convention of House and Senate in St. Paul, Minn., Dayton began stumbling at the podium and slurring his words before fainting, with his head hitting the podium as his aides rushed to his side.

It is unclear why the 69-year-old Democratic governor fainted. He was however able to walk out of the building under his own power.

His son Eric tweeted about his father's condition soon after the incident.

Dayton's office released a statement late Monday night, saying the governor was expected to report to work Tuesday.
