Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) says he's been getting hate mail and phone calls from some on the left because of his decision to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

Cleaver, who decided not to join the group of nearly 70 Democratic lawmakers who are skipping the inauguration, told Neil Cavuto on "Your World" today that people from his own side of the aisle are chastising him for tacitly supporting Trump by attending.

"There's a lot of anxiety out here," Cleaver said. "There are people who are angry because I'm coming tomorrow."

He said it's one thing to have political differences, but we should not let that interfere with civility and the peaceful transition of power.

"We can't just declare this side is evil and wrong, and this side is right and royal," Cleaver said. "We've got to get to a point where we start working with each other."
