A Marine adorned in his dress blues surprised his girlfriend with an engagement ring, and the video is touching people's hearts across the country.

Jon Trommer, who was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California, found out that he was going to be able to go on leave earlier than expected.

He decided to use it to his advantage and surprise his girlfriend, Mandy Wehe, at her parents' home in Parma, Ohio.

“Her siblings and her parents knew, everyone except her,” Trommer told ABC News.

He hired a professional photographer and told Wehe to dress up for their scheduled Facetime date.

“I wanted to make sure she was ready enough,” Trommer said. “I didn’t want to come to her house and have her not be there so I said, ‘For our Facetime date, let’s get dressed up really nice and do something fun,’ and she’s like, ‘OK.’”

Video and photos show the moment a stunned Wehe answers Trommer's knock at the door and runs outside barefoot in the snow.

After a tearful embrace, Trommer drops to a knee and asks her to marry him.

Wehe can barely contain her excitement and quickly says, "Yes!"

“It went really smoothly,” a relieved Trommer said. “It was so hard to keep the secret from her.”

The happy couple plan to wed on August 12 at American Wilderness Campground in Grafton, Ohio.
