Four children were rescued from a burning home Monday night in South Los Angeles.

Video footage shows the house engulfed in flames. Security bars on the windows complicated the rescue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A firefighter found an unbound window and rescued the four children, ranging in age from two to seven.

The LAFD reported that the children's mother was running an errand at the time of the fire and returned to see paramedics providing care to her children.

The children suffered severe burns and remain in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
