Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says the left is overreacting to President-elect Donald Trump’s favorable views of Russia because they still haven't come to terms with their own failed policies and election loss.

He explained that Democratic policies failed with Russia, failed in the Middle East, failed in Europe and failed in the U.S., and that's why voters turned out for Trump.

"The Obama administration has just freaked out over the election," Huckabee said. "The reason is, they still believe everyone gets a trophy, that you can't lose an election."

"Well, they lost. And they're going to have to learn to get over it, because January 20th, Donald Trump's going to be president, whether they like it or not."

He noted that Democrats are quick to criticize Trump's desire to have a "reset" with Russia, but they ignore the fact that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also called for a reset and a "fresh start" in 2009.

Huckabee said that Trump is ready to work with Russia, but that doesn't mean the U.S. is going to surrender or capitulate.

"Russia's going to have to deal with a much tougher administration, one that says what it means and means what it says."
