A University of Arkansas player was suspended from the team for shoplifting from a Belk store just days before his team played in the Belk Bowl.

According to ESPN.com, tight end Jeremy Sprinkle and his teammates were each given a $450 gift card to spend at the Belk store in Charlotte as part of the company's promotion for its sponsored bowl game.

Police were called to the store after Sprinkle was allegedly found with $260 worth of additional items. He was cited for unlawful concealment and later suspended from the team.

He allegedly tried to shoplift two wallets, Nike crew socks and several shirts.

Sprinkle, a senior, did not play as his teammates were defeated Thursday by Virginia Tech 35-24.
