Netanyahu to US: 'Friends Don't Take Friends to UN Security Council'
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hammered the Obama administration for failing to record a veto against a United Nations resolution condemning West Bank and East Jerusalem settlements, accusing the president of initiating the motion.
Netanyahu said he told Secretary of State John Kerry last week that "friends don't take friends to the security council" and criticized the US for breaking decades of custom in which the two nations debate their differences privately.
He said that taking the topic of Israeli settlements before the UN would make negotiations between the Jewish State and the Palestinians more difficult and "drive peace further away."
In light of the incident, Israel is looking forward to working with President-elect Donald Trump and his administration when it takes office in 2017, Netanyahu said.
Eric Shawn reported that Netanyahu blamed the Obama administration for initiating the UN resolution.
The White House denied the accusation, Shawn said.
