Columnist and author Michelle Malkin responded to criticism of President-elect Donald Trump by other mainstream media outlets.

After hearing CNN host Anderson Cooper criticize Trump for tweeting about his network and not reading a briefing on terrorism instead, Malkin called the episode in the wake of alleged collusion with the DNC the "textbook definition of fake news".

Hannity and Malkin pointed to CNN staffers who apparently facilitated the exchange of debate questions between moderators and the Democratic National Committee.

"The key is new media," she said, saying that such a platform "circumvents the rest of the liberal media."

Malkin also fired back at journalist Christiane Amanpour for what she called a "condescending attitude rendering [the media] more and more irrelevant" after Amanpour said journalists should "stand up for their tribe" against buffets from Trump.
