Did Trump Offer Ben Carson Housing & Urban Development Position?
2016 Republican presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson joined Neil Cavuto to discuss his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump today.
Cavuto asked whether Carson, a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, would consider himself the right choice for the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, rather than choosing to seek a post in the healthcare arena.
"Well, our inner cities are in terrible shape and they definitely need some real attention," Carson said, "I grew up in the inner city and have spent a lot of time there, and have dealt with a lot of patients from that area."
Carson said he has received a number of offers from Trump and his team, and told Cavuto the HUD position was "one of the offers on the table."
He said that, if asked to lead the department, he would focus on eradicating "corruption and graft", as well as following through on promises made to residents.
"We cannot have a strong nation if we have weak inner cities," he said.
Carson also discussed Trump's meeting with former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.), a frequent critic of Trump's campaign, and whether the 2012 Republican presidential nominee is likely to be offered a position in Trump's White House.
