The popular dating app Tinder used to allow users two gender identity picks: male or female.

As of Tuesday, users can now choose between nearly 40 different genders.

With the new app update, users have three options: man, woman and a button for "more."

The button leads to an open field where users can input anything they want or pick from 37 auto-fill suggestions.

The additional genders include options such as agender, gender fluid, androgynous, pangender, non-binary, gender questioning, transgender and transsexual.

Many transgender and gender non-conforming Tinder users have previously reported facing abuse on the app, so they notified Tinder administrators.

"We knew we had to make a change. Because we’re really committed to making sure Tinder is a place for everyone. We will do everything we can to make sure Tinder is a safe place," Tinder CEO Sean Rad told Time.

"Gender is not binary. It’s really about how people see themselves and how they feel. And we want to be more inclusive. I hope as a society that we are more inclusive."
