Donald Trump holds the lead on Hillary Clinton in Minnesota’s mock election for high school students.

The Republican nominee took nearly 35 percent of the vote in the Minnesota Students Vote 2016 mock election, with Clinton close behind at 33 percent.

More than 77,000 students from 213 high schools participated in the first round of the mock election, according to Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon.

Other parties that had a strong showing were the Legal Marijuana Now Party, the Libertarian Party and the Green Party.

More high schools are holding their mock elections in the coming days, so the results will be updated, Simon said.
