Luntz Dials-Up Voters: The Top Moments for Trump, Clinton at Debate

Who Would Vladimir Putin Really Want to See Win the Presidency?

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton gave humorous remarks at the Alfred E. Smith Dinner in New York on Thursday.

Speaking to the crowd at the event honoring the first Catholic presidential nominee of a major party, Clinton recalled Herbert Hoover's 1928 rival as a "fiery populist", an apparent reference to Trump's own candidacy.

She said she wanted to put the audience in a "basket of adorables", a riff on her infamous line from a New York dinner earlier this year, when she characterized "half" of Trump supporters as "deplorables".

"Donald sees the Statue of Liberty, and sees a 4," she said, referencing Trump's apparent 'grades' for women's appearance, "Maybe a 5 if drops the tablet and changes her hair."

Offering some self-deprecating humor, Clinton admitted she was "not known for [her] jokes", which was "why it takes a village to write my jokes", a nod to her book.

"Donald has been very concerned about [my health]. He actually sent a car to bring me here tonight--actually, it was a hearse," she said.

She added that her rival was probably also "as healthy as a horse", adding, "[like] the one Vladimir Putin rides around on."

Closing her remarks, she made a jovial attempt at "uniting" her and Trump:

"Let's come together and remember what unites us, and just rip on Ted Cruz."
