Sen. Marco Rubio called in to "Your World" today to warn Florida residents about the seriousness of the threat posed by Hurricane Matthew.

Rubio said it's imperative for people who live on Florida's east coast or in mobile homes to heed warnings and evacuate.

He explained that if residents remain in unsafe areas, they endanger not only themselves, but also any first responders who are called in to help as a result.

"There's still time to get out, but I can just tell you here, in a couple hours that window will have closed, and these people are going to get stuck in very difficult situations," Rubio said. "We're trying to do everything we can to encourage those folks to move."

"If you live anywhere north of Palm Beach County all the way up to Jacksonville - and even into central Florida - they need to take this very, very seriously."
