Hillary Clinton and her campaign team were "ecstatic" to hear that basketball legend LeBron James has endorsed the Democratic presidential nominee, Mike Emanuel said on Shepard Smith Reporting.

Stumping in James' hometown of Akron, Ohio, Clinton said she and the 31-year-old forward share the same values and goals.

"We both believe every single child should have the chance to live up to their God-given potential," Clinton said.

"I could not be prouder to have LeBron joining our team as we head into the home stretch."

James, of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was the number one overall NBA draftee in 2003, and is a three-time league champion and four-time MVP.

While Clinton campaigned in Ohio on Monday, Vice President Joe Biden acted as her campaign's surrogate, rallying voters along Florida's crucial I-4 corridor--between Tampa and Daytona via Orlando.

That area is seen as the region that will likely swing the Sunshine State for either candidate, Emanuel said.
