A New York couple found it difficult to sleep in their normal-sized bed with their eight rescue dogs, so they came up with a very creative solution.

Chris and Mariesa Hughes, who live in upstate new York, were unwilling to boot their four-legged friends from bed, so they reached out to a local furniture maker.

Over the course of six months, he built them a custom "megabed," capable of fitting two humans and eight dogs comfortably.

"At nighttime all of the dogs want to sleep on the bed and sometimes it becomes too cluttered, and we end up being pushed off of the bed or sleeping on the couch," Chris told TODAY. "So we built the megabed."

"I can't get over how awesome the bed is. It's freaking huge!"

The enormous bed takes two mattresses — a king up top and a full turned sideways below. It's nearly 14 feet long, and 7 feet wide, with a 6-foot-tall headboard.

That's more than enough room for Chris, Mariesa, Gremlin, Sam, Stig, Quinn, Meatball, Money, Tejas and Mabel.

In fact, according to Mariesa, it could even accommodate another rescue dog or two.

"I’m sure it could," she said. "And I’m sure one of these days we will find out."
