GOOD NEWS This Video of a Bodybuilder With Cerebral Palsy Is Inspiring Millions
A 43-year-old bodybuilder with cerebral palsy wowed audiences at a Virginia competition, proving that determination is everything.
Footage of Steve Alexy flexing his impressive muscles was posted by fellow bodybuilder Suzy Farren Newman with the message, "Your excuses aren't valid." It's been watched tens of millions of times.
"I watched Steve hit the stage a few years ago and I couldn't believe how dedicated he was," she wrote. "Well, a few years later and he's still just as dedicated and looks absolutely amazing."
She added: "Steve has cerebral palsy, but it doesn't have him. He set goals and crushed them!"
Steve was presented with the competition's outstanding achievement award. As he was presented with the award, several hundred people in attendance stood up to applaud him.
"Just because I have a problem doesn't mean I can't do what able-bodied people can. It may take a different path, but you can get there," Steve told The Virginian-Pilot in 2014.
He said that his motivation was that he wanted to prove that a physical disability shouldn't limit anyone's potential. He's now been seriously pursuing bodybuilding for three years.
Trainer Chris Lovelette, who's been working alongside Steve for years, says "Steve has proven to the world today he can inspire anybody and that anything is possible."
