Peters: ISIS Leader's Death 'Greatest Blow to Islamist Terror Since Bin Laden' Raid
Following a US-backed airstrike in Aleppo, Syria, reports surfaced that ISIS’ top spokesman and strategist, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, was successfully killed in nearby al-Bab, Reuters reported.
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters [Ret.] called Adnani’s death “the greatest blow to Islamist terror since Bin Laden [was killed].”
“[ISIS chief Abu Bakr] al-Baghdadi had a regional vision, but Adnani brought it global.”
“He was their Walt Disney, Steve Jobs and Karl Marx rolled into one,” Peters continued, saying that as a “dark world” Walt Disney, “with all those beheading videos, he knew what his audience wanted before his audience knew it.”
“As [their] Steve Jobs, he realized the incredible possibilities of electronic media, and like Marx he had really dumb ideas and yet still found a global following.”
