Election HQ Huckabee: 'Absurd' to Accuse Trump of Flip-Flopping on Immigration
Mike Huckabee joined Howard Kurtz on "MediaBuzz" today to react to Donald Trump "softening" his tone on immigration.
Huckabee said that Trump has "stuck to his guns" on the importance of a border wall and border security, but he has realized how impractical it would be to forcibly deport the 11 million people who are in the U.S. illegally.
"This is not a change of his basic fundamental view that America has a right to dictate who comes into this country," Huckabee said. "I think the press trying to make him out to be some flip-flopper is, frankly, absurd."
Huckabee argued that putting forth specific policies opens one up for criticism, and that's what Trump is learning on the campaign trail.
The former Arkansas governor noted a big difference in how the mainstream media treats Trump, as opposed to Hillary Clinton.
"If anybody denies that the mainstream media is totally in the tank for Hillary, they're living in a fantasy land," Huckabee said. "They probably have a unicorn ranch, and they believe in the tooth fairy. It's just absurd for us to deny that there is a concerted effort to try and discredit Donald Trump."
