Talk about striking it big!

An Australian amateur miner discovered a whopping 145-ounce (4.1kg) solid gold nugget, about 1.5 times the size of a human fist.

The unidentified miner told Mining.com the discovery was a "once-in-a-lifetime find."

He found it with his mining buddies in Central Victoria’s Golden Triangle, in South Australia, using a Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector. It was buried about a foot below the ground.

The massive nugget is being stored in a bank vault and being prepped for auction where it's expected to reel in $250,000 AUD ($189,000 USD).
