Trump to Moms of Children Killed by Illegals: 'They Will Not Have Died in Vain'
In a powerful town hall hosted by Sean Hannity in Austin, Texas, Donald Trump listened to mothers whose children were killed by illegal immigrants, and told them that their children will not have died in vain.
Laura Wilkerson, whose teenage son was tortured and murdered by an illegal alien, said the government betrayed them.
"Every one of our kids should be here with us today," she said.
Agnes Gibboney, whose son Ronald was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant in 2002 in California, said: "Our children should be protected, our citizens should be protected. Us Americans should come first."
Gibboney, who came to America legally from Hungary, said the families of the victims "have no rights" in the courts and are treated like the criminals, rather than the illegal immigrant offenders.
Trump replied: "All we can say, because the loss is beyond anything we can even think of...is that they will not have died in vain, because we won’t let it happen to others.”,
Hannity then brought up the murder of Grant Ronnebeck, 21, an Arizona convenience store clerk who was murdered last year by a drug cartel member who was in the country illegally.
The man had been convicted previously of raping a woman and holding her hostage for a week, but was allowed to be released onto the streets.
Mary Ann Mendoza, whose police officer son was killed, took issue with federal judges who have chosen to "take the law into their own hands" and refuse to deport criminal aliens even after the government recommends they do so.
Mendoza's killer, Raul Silva-Corona, was wanted for charges including burglary, assault and leaving the scene of an accident and was here illegally for 20 years.
Mendoza said she is concerned about the country that we're leaving for our children.
Hannity asked the women whether a president, or any government official, has ever called them.
"No, but from the next president we got a call," said Wilkerson, drawing a huge round of applause and a big smile from Trump.
