A Texas mother is charged with capital murder after authorities say she confessed to drowning her two young children and then hiding their bodies under a neighbor's house.

According to FOX Houston, police were called to the southeast Houston neighborhood after 30-year-old Sheborah Thomas matter-of-factly told someone who was helping her move about what she had done.

Police said Sunday that Thomas appears to have acted alone in the deaths of her 7-year-old son, O'Raylan, and 5-year-old daughter, Kayana.

She reportedly said she drowned the children in the bathtub on Friday, but police have not confirmed the cause of death.

FOX Houston reported

She was turned into police by an acquaintance who came upon her throwing away trash in a field, where she allegedly told him she needed help moving right away.

When the man asked about her kids, she calmly said she had killed them, Smith said.

"She was so matter of fact about it he didn't think she was serious. He thought she was joking," Smith said. "He continued to help her pack."

Police said the man asked about the kids again later and got the same answer, causing him to drive Thomas to a police station and flag down an officer.

Thomas also has a 12-year-old son, who was not harmed. Authorities said Thomas did not have a known history of mental illness.
