Officials have given the "all clear" at Maryland's Joint Base Andrews, saying there was no shooting at the heavily guarded military installation.

A lockdown and "shelter in place" order was given this morning at a medical facility on the base outside Washington, D.C.

The base tweeted that there was a drill scheduled for this morning:

The report of an active shooter was apparently caused by the drill that was going on.

Air Force One is hangared at the base along with fighter aircraft that are responsible for defending the capital. There is also a medical center in the middle of the community area of the base.

"Andrews is probably the most sensitive and most secure military facility in the country," said Maj. Gen. Robert Scales (Ret.) on America's Newsroom.
