GOOD NEWS Gretchen Carlson Will Be MC at the Miss You Can Do It Pageant
Gretchen Carlson will be master of ceremonies at next month's 13th annual Miss You Can Do It pageant, she announced today on The Real Story.
Carlson was joined by Miss Iowa 2008 Abbey Curran, who created the non-profit pageant for girls and women with special needs, and one of this year's young contestants.
Curran, who was born with cerebral palsy, was the first woman with a disability to compete in the Miss USA pageant.
Gretchen shared in her "My Take" segment that she was drawn to this wonderful cause because it inspires people to never give up and to believe in who they are "from the inside out."
"These young ladies go out in front of everybody and they say, 'This is me and I'm beautiful.' Whether they're gracing the stage in a wheelchair or struggling to walk with cerebral palsy," she said.
Carlson called on viewers to consider making a donation to help Curran with the costs of putting on the pageant.
"Let's acknowledge these young women for their bravery and perseverance and help change the way beauty is defined."
This year's pageant will be held Saturday, July 30 in Peoria, Illinois.
