Santa Monica Police: Heavily-Armed Man Wanted to Harm LGBT Parade
Santa Monica police arrested a man armed with guns and explosives who said he wanted to cause harm at the gay pride parade in West Hollywood.
Police arrested James Howell, 20, of Indiana, just hours after the deadly mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando. They say the arrest had no connection to that massacre.
Santa Monica patrol officers arrested Howell after responding to calls from citizens about a prowler going around the city and knocking on people's doors.

When they inspected his car, they reportedly found the weapons and ammo cache as well as tannerite, a binary explosive that could be used to create a pipe bomb.
The investigation was taken over by the FBI.
