GOOD NEWS UPDATE: Orlando SWAT Officer Doing Well After Taking Bullet to Helmet
A photo was posted to Facebook of the Orlando SWAT officer who was struck in the helmet by a bullet during the department's response to the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub. (Update: The photo was removed from public view on Facebook, so we have embedded it from Reddit.)
Officer Michael Napolitano's life was saved by the Kevlar helmet he was wearing during the shootout with Omar Mateen.
Yesterday, Orlando PD posted a picture of the helmet showing the piercing by the .223 round fired from Mateen's AR-15-style rifle.

Eleven SWAT officers were involved in the shootout with Mateen at Pulse, a gay dance club, early Sunday morning.
The department said during a briefing yesterday that the impact injured Napolitano's eye, but not seriously.
At least 49 people were killed and 53 more wounded in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
