The father of Omar Mateen, the gunman who killed at least 50 people and injured dozens more at a Orlando gay nightclub, says his son was angry about recently seeing two men kissing in Miami.

Mir Seddique told NBC News that incident may have sparked the mass shooting - the deadliest in U.S. history - insisting that it "has nothing to do with religion."

"We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren't aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country," Seddique said.
