Valedictorians Announce They Are Illegal Immigrants, Sparking Outrage
Two Texas valedictorians recently announced that they are undocumented immigrants, shining a light on the 65,000 undocumented students who are graduating high school this year.
During her valedictory speech at McKinney Boyd High School, Larissa Martinez revealed that she and her family are undocumented Mexican immigrants.
“America can be great again without the construction of a wall built on hatred and prejudice,” Martinez said during her speech, taking aim at Donald Trump.
This came days after Crockett High School valedictorian Mayte Lara Ibarra declared over Twitter that she's undocumented.
On "Fox and Friends Weekend," Tucker Carlson asked immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas if it's fair for illegal immigrants to take coveted scholarships and spots at prestigious colleges from American citizens.
"An American citizen who has children trying to get into schools might say, 'Wait a second, why is someone who is an illegal alien getting a scholarship and getting a spot at that school, and not my child?' That's not bigotry, that's not hatred. That's a real question."
