Gingrich on Impact of Violent Protests at Rallies: 'Country Will Become Enraged'
Newt Gingrich believes that "the country will become enraged" if the violent protests that have broken out at recent Donald Trump rallies continue into the fall.
"When people see the American flag being burned, they don't side with the people burning the American flag," Gingrich said.
He likened it to the 1968 election, with the "hard left" making it known that they will respond with physical violence if they don't get what they want.
"I don't think that is sustainable, and I think the American people will be repulsed by the idea that the hard left gets to dictate to the rest of us," Gingrich said.
He added that this kind of violence and divisiveness drives Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders into a "very narrow box," while making Trump appear more sympathetic.
