Police have confirmed two fatalities in what is now being called a murder-suicide on the campus of The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The campus was placed on lockdown after a 911 call was made at 9:55 a.m. PT about a shooter near the engineering building, Boelter Hall.

Shepard Smith said that KNBC is reporting that a handgun and a suicide note were found on one of the victims.

Both of the victims are male.

LAPD later confirmed that there was "no continuing threat" to the campus.

Panicked students posted photos as they sheltered in classrooms and attempted to lock doors.

Nearby elementary and middle schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution due to police activity in the area, according to the Los Angeles School Police Department.

Another student tweeted a picture of police tactical units moving through the halls.
