A videogame lover found a novel way to propose to his girlfriend -- by embedding his proposal in a custom-made "Super Mario Bros." level.

Shane Birkinbine filmed his girlfriend, Pam Edwards, playing through the side-scrolling level created with Nintendo's Super Mario Maker game.

Eventually, she comes upon blocks spelling her name. As she moves further down, the message "Pam, Will You Marry Me" is revealed.

An absolutely giddy Pam says "Yes, of course," then finishes the level.

Shane shared the special moment on YouTube, saying "Geeks do it better!"

He also showed off the "Mario"-style presentation of the engagement ring to his princess.
