Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and Lt. Gov. Tina Smith proclaimed Monday, May 23, 2016, to be “Beyoncé Day” in The North Star State.

"Beyoncé has influenced many Minnesota girls and women with the powerful, positive messages in her music, and her impact and success have been widely-recognized," Dayton's office said of the honorary day, which coincided with Beyoncé's concert at Minneapolis' TCF Bank Stadium.

Many Minnesotans, however, were none too pleased about “Beyoncé Day”...

When Fox 9 posted the story to their Facebook page, social media users loudly voiced their thoughts on the matter, complaining about everything from Beyoncé's alleged anti-law enforcement messaging to a lack of respect being shown to Minnesota native Prince.

"I have never in my life been so embarrassed to be from Minnesota," one woman wrote.

"Excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth a little....Mark Dayton is an idiot," another said.

One woman added, "Seriously? A Beyonce day? I am appalled and embarrassed. What about Prince? I think of anyone, he deserves a day in Minnesota. He's done more for this state than any other musician."

"Minnesota has stooped to an all time low," one angry Facebook user bluntly stated.

"Just when you think you've seen and heard it all the governor creates Beyoncé Day! What an idiot we have representing our state. So completely embarrassed to say I'm from Minnesota," another wrote.

"Is this the same Beyoncé that promoted violence against police during the Super Bowl Halftime? Is this the same Beyoncé that is being blamed by sheriffs and police departments across the nation for attacks against police stemming from her "Formations" video?" a man commented. "Governor Dayton, I respectfully call for your to withdraw your proclamation honoring Beyoncé like this. It is not in the states best interests."
