UPDATE: Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor was suspended for eight games by Major League Baseball, according to reports.

Odor is expected to appeal the suspension and keep playing.

Odor landed a punch to the face of Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista on Sunday, triggering a wild brawl.

Things got ugly Sunday afternoon between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays, as a vicious punch triggered a wild benches-clearing brawl.

Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor is likely facing a long suspension after landing a right hand flush to the face of Toronto slugger Jose Bautista.

Odor objected to Bautista sliding hard into second base on a ground ball. He then shoved Bautista, and quickly uncorked a punch that knocked him to the ground, sending his helmet and sunglasses flying.

The bad blood between the teams goes back to last year's playoffs when Bautista flipped his bat on a home run, angering the Rangers.

Bautista reached base in the eighth inning of yesterday's game when he was hit by a pitch by Matt Bush.

Bautista called the Rangers "cowardly" after the game for waiting until the end of the series to retaliate.

He said he was "surprised" by the punch from Odor.

"I mean, obviously, that's the only reason that he got me, and he got me pretty good, so I have to give him that. It takes a little bit bigger man to knock me down," he said after the game.

Bautista and Odor were ejected from the game, along with another Toronto player and a Texas coach.

The teams will not play again in the regular season.
