Trump on Obama's Transgender Bathroom Decree: Let States Decide
Donald Trump said states should decide for themselves the issue of transgender bathroom use in public schools.
The New York Times reports that the Obama administration will issue a decree telling every U.S. public school district to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity.
Trump said this has become a "massive story" despite it only affecting a "tiny, tiny" percentage of the population.
"It's a new issue and right now I just don't have an opinion. like to see the states make that decision," he said in an phone interview on Fox and Friends.
Trump said last month that he did not agree with North Carolina passing a law stating that people must use the bathroom that corresponds to their gender at birth.
He argued that the state created a huge economic backlash to address an issue where there has been "little trouble."
Trump also discussed a new bombshell report that the Clinton Foundation gave $2 million to an energy company owned by a female "friend" of the former president. The woman was reportedly dubbed the "Energizer" by the Secret Service and is alleged to have been romantically involved with Bill Clinton.
Julie Tauber McMahon has denied the reports that she had a romantic relationship with Clinton.
