Two members of a Turkish nationalist youth group were detained after trying to put a plastic bag over the head of a U.S. soldier at an air base in southern Turkey, according to reports.

The state-run Anadolu Agency reported Sunday that two members of the right-wing group Turkish Youth Union were placed under house arrest after the shocking incident that occurred Saturday at the Incirlik Air Base.

Video recorded by the suspects shows one of them blaming the U.S. soldier for the deaths of Turkish soldiers and terror attacks in their country, as he tries to place the bag over his head.

The U.S. soldier managed to fight them off until Turkish soldiers intervened at the scene.

Reports indicate the youths tried to place a bag over the soldier's head because of a notorious incident in July 2003, in which a group of Turkish special forces troops operating in northern Iraq were arrested by U.S. soldiers and led away with hoods over their heads to be interrogated.

The State Department and Pentagon recently ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel to leave posts in southern Turkey due to "increased threats from terrorist groups" in the country.
